EcoVadis: Corporate Sustainability Assessment

Roadmap to a Top Rating

In markets where ESG is becoming a prerequisite, EcoVadis provides a trusted framework to measure, demonstrate, and continually improve performance across Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. It is used worldwide by major supply chains and their suppliers to gain visibility and enable objective performance comparisons.

What EcoVadis Is (in simple terms)

EcoVadis is a sustainability/CSR assessment system (not a certification). It scores companies from 0–100 and awards medals (Platinum/Gold/Silver/Bronze) based on documented policies, actions, and results. It applies to organizations of all sizes and sectors that need to meet customer/investor requirements and increase supply-chain transparency.

Who Benefits Most

  • Suppliers to multinationals / export-oriented companies invited to be assessed

  • Manufacturing, logistics, HoReCa, retail, and service providers

  • Organizations already certified to standards such as ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 37001 (existing evidence and mature processes accelerate documentation)

How the Assessment Works (step by step)

  • Questionnaire tailored to your industry, company size, and country

  • Evidence submission (policies, procedures, certifications, KPIs, reports)

  • Expert review & scoring by EcoVadis across four pillars:

    • Environment

    • Labour & Human Rights

    • Ethics (anti-corruption, fair competition)

    • Sustainable Procurement

  • Scorecard with strengths, gaps, and an improvement plan

  • Annual reassessment to drive continuous improvement

Scoring System

  • Policies (25%) – formal statements, targets, governance

  • Actions (40%) – implemented programs, procedures, certifications

  • Results (35%) – measurable KPIs, reports, demonstrated performance

Timeline & Effort

Preparation begins with gathering and organizing evidence typically a few weeks depending on readiness. EcoVadis then reviews submissions within 6–8 weeks. End-to-end, the full cycle preparation through meaningful improvements usually takes 3–4 months, and can be faster for companies with established ISO systems.

  • Stronger ESG brand and greater trust from customers and investors
